Jersey photographer: family photoshoot at La Pulente
La Pulente - one of the corners of St Ouen’s bay that is less visited, but not to be missed. It has picturesque boardwalks across the dunes, a hidden hollow under some trees that has tree swings looking out to the sea, a little coffee shack (that serves great chai lattes!), and a beach that is often quite sheltered.
The first time we ever visited La Pulente with our kids we were surprised to find that the rock pools there were extremely warm, and smelt a bit like sulphur. We later found out that this is because deep under the sand there are layers of fermenting seaweed that release gases and heat up to the rockpools - we had discovered the ‘seaweed spa’ of Jersey! Go and seek out the hot pools next time you are there!
This family photoshoot was one of my favourites from this year, and was taken in March, even though the pictures look like summertime. We started off in Les Mielles which had beautiful coastal grasses and wildflowers, then headed to the coast to enjoy the swings and dip our toes in the sea. The weather was unseasonably warm, and this little family were a complete pleasure to spend a morning with - honestly, sometimes I have to pinch myself that I can call this a job.
With many thanks to the Brophy family for letting me share my work. I hope you enjoy looking through a few of the highlights of their session. xxx
If you would like to book a family photoshoot that takes in some of Jersey’s lesser known but beautiful locations, I’d love to hear from you. I love an adventure!
